BEST Network - The BEST Network's aim is to help East Midlands businesses improve their resource efficiency to boost their bottom line and reduce their impact on the region's environment.

Biffaward is the multi-million pound, environmental grant-giving fund utilising the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme.

Bithrir Mawr is a farm of 165 acres in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, UK that houses an intentional community of 20 people working towards sustainability, simplicity and spirit, and wishing to share their aim with others. (Brithdir Mawr means, in Welsh, Great Speckled Land.) The adults work for the community for an average of three days per week and pursue private interests or livelihoods the rest of the time. We take care of the land, recycle and conserve resources, garden and farm organically and are off the grid for electricity and water.

British Earth Sheltering Association The British Earth Sheltering Association is a non-profit making organisation aiming to encourage the design and construction of Earth Sheltered Buildings in the United Kingdom.

Building Research Establishment UK’s leading centre for research, development and consultancy for all aspects of the built environment. Various projects cover sustainable buildings, environmentally responsible practices, construction, etc. HHP was monitored by BRE over a year, looking at its performance and replicability. Catalyst Collective Catalyst Collective Ltd is a worker co-operative, who helps people set up and register co-ops. In the last ten years over 75 housing co-ops, about 30 worker co-ops, a couple of charities, and a variety of   different companies
with co-operative aims have been registered through catalyst. Centre for Alternative Technology UK visitor’s centre in Mid Wales promoting alternative energy and sustainable living. HHP feature in a number of CAT publications. HHP has also assisted on one of CAT’s courses on ‘Community Living’.

Climate Ark - Climate Change Portal This Climate Change Search Space is dedicated to promoting public policy that addresses global climate change through reductions in carbon dioxide and other emissions, energy conservation, alternative energy sources and ending deforestation. The Climate Ark is a Climate Change Portal and Internet Search Tool that provides access to reviewed climate change and alternative energy news and information. Demi is a unique and innovative research project which links design to sustainability debates. Derbyshire Alternative Technology Association (DATA) was founded in January 1996. It brings together people who have an interest in developing the role that sustainable technologies can play in the region.

The New Diggers and Dreamers Website is now up and running - It is complementary to the current edition of the book and includes: News page with current stories related to communal living, searchable database of communal groups in the UK, places needing people - details of groups currently looking for members, articles on various aspects of communal life, a picture gallery, and of course how to buy a copy of the book and other publications on and about communal living.

Eco-logic books are a small, ethical company that specialize in books that provide practical solutions to environmental problems. 

Eco Earth is an Internet search engine and portal dedicated exclusively to global environmental sustainability. The Eco-portal provides linking and full text search capabilities for the contents of over 3,000 reviewed Internet sites related to environmental sustainability.  The site tracks the latest environmental news stories, which are updated several times daily. The Eco-Portal's unveiling is timed to coincide with the Earth Summit 2 in Johannesburg in late August.

ENTRUST Approved by Customs & Excise as the sole regulator of the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme. ENTRUST's prime responsibilities are to enrol qualifying organisations as Environmental Bodies (EBs) and to audit and inspect their activities to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Landfill Tax Regulations 1996. The Landfill Tax was introduced in October 1996 and permits up to 20% of the taxes collected by Landfill Operators to be claimed against Environmental Projects. The Credit Scheme must be used for the purposes of implementing social and environmental projects complying with specific 'approved objects' in the Regulations. HHP is an approved EB.

Eurotopia – is the European directory for living in community. The 414 pages contain a listing of 336 intentional communities in 23 countries throughout Europe with their addresses and specific characteristics. In short texts the communities present themselves through their main areas of work and interest, along with their locations, goals and dreams. It provides a lively insight into a way of life which is attracting more people every day.

Gaia- The Foundation for Sustainable Development The Foundation is a UK based organisation that implements sustainable development projects and initiatives in response to the proposals (known as Local Agenda 21) made at the 1992 United Nations 'Earth Summit' in Rio de Janeiro. By integrating the social, environmental and economic aspects of Sustainable Development we work to deliver simple solutions to complex problems, via inextricably linked and carefully balanced programmes that, at one and the same time, advance education, protect health and relieve poverty.

Green Building Store - The Green Building Store is wholly owned and run by Environmental Construction Products Ltd, a company which has specialised in environmentally sensitive building products since 1995. Gusto Construction Gusto Construction Ltd. is a local entrepreneurial company based in Collingham, Nottinghamshire, which has been designing and building houses in the area for over fifteen years. More recently it has developed an interest in more environmentally friendly housing. Some of this interest stemmed from learning about Hockerton Housing Project which has since led to Gusto incorporating some of its principles in its latest development, ‘Millennium Green’- "Each aspect of the design and construction must incorporate environmental good practice and sustainable development objectives combined with traditional ideals and common sense."

Halo Energy claims to be a “Think-tank for Renewable Energy Projects”. They are a team of different specialists, which specialize in marketing/communication of renewable energy projects worldwide. They help to launch projects offering strategic advice and tactical support.

Institute of Energy & Sustainable Development This group is based at De Montfort University, Leicester. "The mission of the Institute is to make a worthwhile and significant contribution to the cause of sustainable development. The Institute will seek to make its contribution through research and educational work of the highest standards." They also run a MSc course, which regularly visits HHP. Institute for Sustainable Development in Business is based at Nottingham Trent University. The staff work with many organisations to improve their environmental and social impacts, covering areas like improving knowledge on environmental legislation, advice and training on reducing the industrial impacts on the environment, promoting sustainable communities, green supply chains and environmental industries.

Sustainable Developer Guide for Nottinghamshire - The Sustainable Developer Guide is intended as a useful resource for anyone involved in the development process. Its main focus is on planning and design, but it also offers advice about the construction and maintenance of buildings and considers how the wider impacts of development can be managed (HHP was heavily involved in developing the content for the Guide)

Sustainable Homes Sustainable Homes promotes awareness of sustainable development issues and good practice, and encourages housing associations and other registered social landlords to adopt environment friendly policies and practices. Funded by an Innovation and Good Practice Grant from the Housing Corporation, Sustainable Homes is based at Hastoe Housing Association. Hastoe and a number of other associations provide additional financial support.

Sustainable Life Eco-Portal - Gateway to a Wealth of Resources, Information & Products to help you find what you need to live a more healthy, socially & environmentally sustainable life.

Sustainable-scotland.com An interactive site where you can learn about sustainable development & the environment in Scotland on a national and local level............even on your doorstep. This site was designed to present integrated information about Scottish and local environmental initiatives TO inspire people to care for the environment and their surroundings. The site further supports the Freedom of information initiative and provides links to main environmental initiatives in Scotland in an easy to navigate site.

The National Byway is a 3,500-mile leisure cycling route around Britain, including many routes around Nottinghamshire and one that goes past the Hockerton Housing Project itself. Its objective is to use existing, lightly trafficked rural lanes to form the route. The Workhouse - Why not combine a visit to Hockerton with visiting the best preserved workhouse in England - Run by the National Trust and less than 2 miles away.

Wind & Sun This company has been using, living with and installing wind and solar power since 1984. Advice is therefore very much from hands-on experience. It has a workshop, showroom, test and demonstration site where many items can be viewed on working display (by appointment).
