Introduction

From the very outset the Project has been recognized as a possible model for sustainable living. The massive interest that it has attracted indicates that there is a desire from a significant proportion of the public to seek new ways of living that reduce their impact on the environment. In the last five years we have received over 4,000 enquiries. This is steadily increasing, as more people become interested and aware of this type of project.

We have been very encouraged by the interest from developers, housing associations, local authorities, architects and planners, who are eager to learn more. The experience that project members have gained is relatively unique This includes new building techniques, innovative materials and technology, community build, and marketing the project. Through the Hockerton Housing Project we plan to help others apply the principles we have adopted and learnt.

We are currently involved in a number of new projects, including retrofit, new-build housing and a larger scale environmental scheme.

HHP has developed a large network of relevant individuals and organizations that it intends to work with to assist in this work.
